TVI Actors Studio New York member Laura Ferland has just booked a supporting role in the upcoming indie feature “We Got the Beat” from AA Films. Laura has come a long way with us since graduating from the University of Connecticut’s acting program a scant 13 months ago.
Jim Daly of BlocNYC met with and signed TVI Member Raven Pease after seeing her work in Andra Reeve‘s Pilot Prep Class. Equally excitingly, she’s been working on Geza Boy, a play with an international pedigree that just had a major reading at the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven on June 21.

ABOUT THE BOOK, “The Art of Auditioning” (from Amazon)
Book Description
A network daytime casting director highlights the difference between the craft of acting and the business of auditioning, and how those two worlds meet in television. This practical and specific guide reveals to actors in a step-by-step format how they can empower themselves as they begin to audition for television work and start mapping a career. Included are proven-effective preparation techniques, including asking the right questions, making specific acting choices, sitting versus standing, finding beats and beat changes, using spontaneity, and much more. Also included are interviews with top daytime casting directors and actors, advice on headshots and resumes, and an examination of the difference between audition preparation and theatrical preparation.
TVI’s very own Uta Hagen specialist, Valerie Kingston, in addition to her ongoing Scene Study classes (offered Tuesday nights and Wednesday mornings at TVI New York) is living it up with Queen Latifah in a national commercial for Jenny Craig. Like many of our teachers, Valerie continues to practice what she preaches. And it’s paying off.
I feel like a proud mother. My little student has blossomed into a young actress. Only 2 days after taking Jonathan Strauss‘ class at TVI Actors Studio (the only place he teaches), Therese Plummer booked her first Law & Order: SVU.
Jonathan Strauss called her agent Jim Daly at BLOC and asked her to audition for the part of Andrea, a young NBC affiliate in her 30′s.
I am so excited for her and can only imagine how Jim and Therese feel right now.
TVI Students are not just sitting around waiting for their agents to call!
Blaise Miller, Kevin Brennan, Katie Condidorio, and Amelia Meyers have taken their new web series “The Googling” live! The efforts of their group, affectionately known as the Vacationeers, captured national attention when they were featured on CNN’s Headline News and when they were named Top Ten Comedy Group on You Tube!
Longtime TVI student and consultant favorite Brian Patacca can currently been seen on Verizon’s website walking you through the virtual guide for their new LG Dare Phone. Check out his charming personality and learn more about the cool new product here.

New York Actress Michelle Lookadoo is currently lighting up the stage and the magical sea of Disney on Broadway as Ariel’s sister in The Little Mermaid. Previously Michelle was in the cast of Mary Poppins and Beauty & The Beast. Michelle obviously made a splash when she studied musical theatre technique at TVI Actors Studio with a representative of Tara Rubin Casting (Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, Spamalot, Jersey Boys and many other Broadway shows).

TVI Actors Studio New York member Carol Crittenden just concluded a run in the popular romance “Same Time Next Year” for the Pax Amicus theater in Budd Lake, New Jersey. The actress and singer/songwriter recently also celebrated a marriage.

Congratulations to Alexis who has signed with Los Angeles and New York KSA Talent Agency (Kazarian/Spencer & Associates.) The talent agency most recently touted for getting Brandon Roth the lead in Superman. Perhaps Alexis will soon be playing Wonder Woman?

TVI Student Mike Cannon is still dancing away as he celebrates his continued run in the current Broadway revival of A Chorus Line as Al. Though, the show has announced a closing date at the end of August, it is still a crowd favorite and currently features Dancing with the Stars‘ Mario Lopez.
